Abstract: The development of alternative energy such as biodiesel is one of the solutions to the exploitation of renewable energy is not like petroleum. However, the main constraints bulk biodiesel production is the high cost of production. This fact can be overcome by the use of cheap raw materials, simplifying the production process and utilization of byproducts. One of the cheap and alternative raw material for biodiesel is the rice bran oil. Rice bran became the choice because Indonesia is the third largest grain producer in the world, producing bran as much as 3.5 million tons per year. Waste utilization of rice in Indonesia have a lot done, as cattle feed, and a mycological planting media. However, it is still very rarely used for biodiesel raw materials. Manufacture of biodiesel from rice bran can be done by the method of in-situ two stages namely extraction process and the simultaneous esterification reaction. Both of these processes could hit production costs, due to the abundant supply of raw materials and the simplification of the production process. To get the bran oil extraction process is done using methanol, Bran, next on the esterification catalysts of 𝐻2𝑆𝑂4 added bran oil. When the moisture content of dried Milled Grain (GKG) of 14%, then every milling rice husk will generate 18-20%, 8-10% bran and rice 47-60%. And the rice production in Indonesia known as of 2006 amounting to 50 million tonnes, then the resulting by-products ranging from 5 million tons. A very generous amount, the potential of rice bran oil can be a potential renewable energy as biodiesel is very profitable in the future.
